Originally from Miami, Florida, Mikki's love for dance and music were sparked at a young age through her combined Jamaican and Black American backgrounds as well as from the diverse cultures of the city. She was introduced to the study of dance through school and community programs, and then furthered her training through dance studios and a dance team.

Mikki has trained in various styles, focusing primarily on Hip Hop, African dance, Latin dance, and Musical Theatre. Having a passion for dance and working with children, she began working as a dance instructor in 2012. In her upwards of 8 years working in dance education, Mikki has choreographed routines for recitals, competitions, and community performances. She has continued her training as an educator by attending dance teacher conventions such as the Liberate Artists: Forward Movement and the Dance Teacher Summit NYC.
