Ana Bolt-Turrall

Pilates and Adv. Mdern Instructor

Ana Bolt-Turrall is a Wife, Mother, Dancer, Educator, consummate Artist and Mentor. She has spent a lifetime refining her craft and combining the art of dance and fitness with her heart for service. Ana’s years of professional dance training include studying with such renown teachers as Alonzo King, Michael Kliën, Jüri Nael, Ana Sanchez Colberg, Dmitri Peskov, Gerard Ebitz, Frank Hatchett, Fred Bratcher, Gerry Houlihan, Judith Newman, Mariana Alvarez, Rosita Segovia, Horton technique at The Alvin Ailey School, Limon technique with Daniel Lewis, Graham technique with Peter London and Laban Movement with Bill Evans. Ana is a professional movement specialist who strives to condition and strengthen her students and clients through mind, body and spirit connections. She is a certified Polestar® Pilates CPT and PMA® certified instructor as well as fully certified in dance, theatre and physical education for grades K-12. In addition, her repertoire of movement and fitness knowledge includes AIS-Active Isolated Stretching, Gyrokinesis and the Eric FrankAna Bolt-Turralllin Method (Dynamic Alignment Through Imagery).

She is a graduate of New World School of the Arts and Florida International University. She is presently finishing her MFA in Choreography Education PAR (Practice as Research) at Jacksonville University with a residency at White Oak. From 1991-2014, Ana founded Expressions Performing Arts and directed an after school enrichment and outreach program for children. Ana is an active and well-respected performing artist. She has performed with dance companies such as the Dance Now Ensemble, Florida Grand Opera, Aire, Pioneer Collective, Florida Dance Festivals, and Marie Whitman’s company ‘Eat your Poem’ for women’s shelters. Ana is working with Wings to Fly Dance Company and with Choreographer/Director Danielle Ricci of Borealis Dance Company from Minneapolis. In addition, she works as a Pilates and fitness instructor at Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club and is the Exercise Program Director at Gold's Gym. Ana is presently working on her Thesis called Internal Dialogues: The Aging Body as a source for a Movement Affinity which will be implemented in her dance movement company “Bolt Movement & Theatre Project” for movers/dancers/artists ages 45 and older. Her vision is to serve the older population through a movement practice for a healthy and creative life style. She has been honored to receive the Teacher of the Year Award in 2008 in Miami Beach, Florida, Hispanic Artist of the Year Award for her contributions in Arts Education in 2011 by the City of Miami Beach and the Visionary Award in 2012 froMiamiArtzine.com.In addition, she was awarded Track and Field Coach of the Year in 2012 and 2013. An inspiration to the youth in the community, Ana’s reach and influence is extensive.

Her leadership, training and expert coaching, have prepared many students to attend prestigious schools such as Juilliard in New York, Ailey/Fordham University, New World School of the Arts in Miami, Boston Conservatory, Florida State University, Miami City Ballet and Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. She is known for her integrity, her desire to serve and her un-dying commitment to building the community’s youth through the Arts. Her holistic approach to teaching, builds not only dance technique and athletic skills, but confidence, self-esteem and character in her students and clients. Ana has been able to help students transform their lives not only into artists, art-enthusiasts or athletes, but into centered and wholesome professional individuals. Several of her former students have pursued professional careers in the performing arts and are now on Broadway and/or professional companies. She believes that the arts serve a bigger purpose in an individual’s life that goes beyond the stage!
